Condensation Particle Counter
Make the invisible nanoparticles visible
Condensation Particle Counter (CPC) Optical System
The 15000-OEM condensation particle counter (CPC) is designed to detect and count aerosol particles by first enlarging the particulates using a supersaturated vapor. These robust monitors provide reliable, accurate measurement of airborne nanoparticles across a very wide size range allowing for the detection of environmental and public health concerns involving airborne particulates.
Particles Plus® condensation particle counter measures ultrafine particulates as small as 5 nm (0.005 μm) and provides a total particle count above this threshold, this data is also stored in each of the above samples to provide a more complete view of air quality.
Applications
The water condensation particle counter measures ultrafine particulates as small as 5 nm (0.005 μm) and provides a total particle count above this threshold.
Research
CPCs are used in various fields, including atmospheric science, environmental monitoring, and respiratory protection studies.
Fence-line Monitoring
CPCs are used in fence-line monitoring to detect and measure air pollutants at the perimeter of industrial facilities.
Mine and Quarry
Authorities can quantify dust impact, generate alerts, and automate dust suppression systems effectively.
City Wide Air Pollution Monitoring
Motor vehicle emissions constitute a significant source of nanoparticles in urban areas.
Roadside Emissions Monitoring
Real-world monitoring in roadside environments is necessary to mitigate the impact on air quality and human health.
Airport Monitoring
Monitoring UFPs at airports is crucial for assessing their health effects on airport workers, and nearby residents.
Water vs Butanol
Butanol has some quite important disadvantages. Butanol vapor is a VOC and human exposure is a concern. Additionally, if other gas analyzers are being used near butanol CPCs, it may interfere. Butanol also needs to be purchased from a chemical manufacturer, which makes the supply harder. Butanol can be a fire hazard.
Water is safe, eco-friendly and easy to obtain. Moreover, water CPCs mimic the same atmospheric mechanism on how the size of the particles are influenced by water vapor. Water CPCs are suitable for indoor and outdoor measurements of nano particles.
